On the Field

TRAINING YEAR

In a Covid school year, competitive athletics, like so much else, was on pause. With a bit of creative scheduling and a commitment to keeping student athletes training, we were able to resume athletic activity for Middle and High School students with modified schedules after winter break.

Each season lasted six weeks—winter sports including basketball, high school swimming and fencing began in January, followed by the fall athletes in middle and high school girls’ volleyball, soccer and cross country, and high school girls’ tennis in March – April, and the spring season opened in mid-April for middle and high school baseball, softball and track, as well as high school boys’ volleyball, tennis, and golf. In the end, all of our athletic teams had an opportunity to train. The schedule for all three seasons were gatherings by cohort, Monday – Thursday, so each student-athlete trained twice a week.

Our program is built on a passion for camaraderie and a love of competing with teammates, and although we were unable to compete against other schools, our student-athletes had the opportunity to gather with their teammates and work on their skills.

Heading into the new school year, one thing is certain: Grace Griffins are ready to get back to the action. Schools are on track for a standard athletics season and interscholastic competition for 2021-22, and we are all ready to once again cheer our teams on.

Go Griffins!
